Ingredients
Mqaret dough
- 450 grams flour
- 60 grams lard
- 60 grams margarine or butter
- 70 grams sugar
- 175 grams water
- some rose water
Filling for imqaret
- 500 grms chopped dates
- lemon zest
- some rose water
- some aniseed liquor
- water to cook the dates
Instructions
- prepare the dough by first mixing the flour the sugar and fats toagther, than combine with the water and the rose water and form into a dough.
- Allow to rest for 1 hour.
- Prepare the filling by chopping the dates, than cook in water, till it forms into a paste.
- allow to cool and and add the lemon zestand the liquor, and mix well and allow to cool.
- Open the dough into long strips,and spread the paste in the middle of the dough, egg wash one end, than fold the other half to cover all the paste.
- Press well the end where the side have been egg washed and press well, cut into 3 cm pieces and deep fry.
